Hi everyone,

I hope you’re well today. Here is the most recent security bulletin from Incognito. One of the most exciting articles is about how Instagram now allows you to reset the algorithm; it’s giving you a new chance to change where you put your attention and where you can keep your focus. It is also a good life lesson as well 🙂

Want a fresh start with Instagram?
Instagram is rolling out a new feature that will allow you to reset the algorithm to start fresh. As the article explains, one brief foray down a rabbit hole can impact what you see for months. This is because the algorithm tracks what you look at and what you like and feeds you more. Now, you will be able to reset the algorithm. It’s almost like having a new start in life.

In the game of life, you can also reset the algorithm at any time 🙂 You can change your narrative anytime, or you can give yourself a new story. It is very easy but you have to be disciplined, as it takes 21 days. Are you the hero in your own life, or the victim? 🙂 Ok, the uninvited therapy session is over!

Say goodbye to spam text messages with TextKiller.
Here is a fantastic app that only runs on iOS now that claims to block 99% of unwanted text messages. There is a massive surge in fraudulent text messages, everything from fake delivery messages to notifications from counterfeit banks. This application claims to be able to block them. I’ve had a little look myself, and it looks good. So go ahead and take a look for yourself. With all of our recommendations, we don’t get any revenue. There are no tracking links in any of our messages, and we don’t benefit from recommending products in any way.

Three steps to secure your Wi-Fi router
Here is a great article that gives instructions and three steps that you can do to better secure your Wi-Fi router. Do you want to get some excellent advice, such as turning off WPS, which is open to most readers by default and was quite easy for a hacker to bypass?

Malicious QR codes – BEWARE
Here is an article from Bitdefender explaining how malicious QR codes are now being sent in the post in Switzerland. Cybercriminals are printing an infected QR code and sending a physical letter in the hopes that the people receiving the letters will scan the QR code and infect their devices with malware. Please be extra careful when scanning QR codes. When you scan a QR code, it launches a webpage, which is supposed to display the menu in the restaurant or give you information about the area you’re in. Cybercriminals are now able to load the webpage with malware in an attempt to break into your device when you scan it. Avoid QR codes altogether.

Ransomware Surge: Be on the lookout.
There’s been a 100% increase in ransomware activity over the past few months. Here is an article from Avast that gives more information about the statistics and explains what ransomware is and how to protect yourself. You can read the article here, but you can also follow these four points:

* Update your software regularly.
* Back up your files.
* Think before you click.
* Use robust security software.

Windows and Mac Malware
Here is an article from Malwarebytes that exposes a free artificial intelligence video editor as information-stealing malware in disguise. There was an extensive social media campaign promoting this free video editor, but when you install it, you install malware. If you have Edit Pro AI installed, remove it immediately and contact us at the privacy care team. Free things usually have a hidden price, so beware of offers too good to be true.

Mobile Security Guide.
Here is an excellent article from Security Week about the urgent and critical need to prioritise mobile security. If you have five minutes, I suggest that you take a read and follow the advice given.

Okay, that’s it for me for today. I hope you found this posting of benefit to you. If you think anybody else could benefit from reading this, please feel free to share.
