Hey everyone,

I wanted to give you a quick FYI on a serious web skimming campaign that’s been making the rounds. A batch of online stores—including Casio UK (casio.co.uk)—were compromised by hackers using a sneaky web skimmer attack to steal credit card details and personal data from unsuspecting users.

What Happened?

A malicious script was embedded into these websites, silently capturing sensitive data when users entered payment details. Unlike most skimmers, which operate only on checkout pages, this one was more advanced—it intercepted information before users even reached the checkout, tricking them with a fake payment form.

What Was Stolen?

✔️ Full credit card details (number, expiration, CVV)
✔️ Billing address and personal info
✔️ Email and phone number

How It Worked

  • The fake payment page mimicked Casio’s real checkout process.
  • After entering their details, users were redirected to the real payment page, making them think nothing was wrong.
  • The hackers encrypted the stolen data and sent it to a server in Russia for further exploitation.

What You Need to Do

Check Your Statements – If you’ve shopped on Casio UK or other affected sites recently, monitor your bank account for unauthorized transactions.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) – Even if your card details are stolen, adding 2FA to your financial accounts makes it harder for criminals to misuse them.
Use Virtual Cards – Many banks and services now offer one-time-use card numbers for online purchases, limiting exposure.
Be Wary of Checkout Changes – If the payment process suddenly looks different or asks for your details twice, stop immediately and check with the retailer.
Scan Your Device for Malware – Web skimmers don’t just steal data—they sometimes install spyware to capture even more. Run a security check with Incognito to make sure your phone or computer hasn’t been compromised.

Web skimming attacks like these have become alarmingly common, targeting both big brands and smaller merchants. If you ever feel like something is off when shopping online, trust your instincts—pause and verify.
