Urgent Update: Apple Fixes Zero-Day Vulnerabilities – All Apple Products

Attention all Apple users (iPhone, Mac etc) – this is urgent.

Apple has rolled out updates across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and Safari, targeting several security vulnerabilities, including an actively exploited zero-day bug, known as CVE-2023-38606. This vulnerability, nestled in the kernel, can potentially allow malicious apps to modify sensitive kernel states. Apple has addressed this issue through improved state management, but it’s critical that you update your devices promptly to secure them.

This zero-day flaw is the third security vulnerability associated with Operation Triangulation, a sophisticated mobile cyber espionage campaign specifically targeting iOS devices since 2019. The previous two vulnerabilities, CVE-2023-32434 and CVE-2023-32435, were already patched by Apple last month.

The latest updates apply to the following devices and operating systems:

  • iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6: for iPhone 8 and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later.
  • iOS 15.7.8 and iPadOS 15.7.8: for iPhone 6s (all models), iPhone 7 (all models), iPhone SE (1st generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini (4th generation), and iPod touch (7th generation).
  • macOS Ventura 13.5, macOS Monterey 12.6.8, and macOS Big Sur 11.7.9.
  • tvOS 16.6: for Apple TV 4K (all models) and Apple TV HD.
  • watchOS 9.6: for Apple Watch Series 4 and later.

How to Update Your Apple Device:

To update your Apple device, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your device to WiFi.
  2. Go to ‘Settings’.
  3. Scroll down to ‘General’ and tap on it.
  4. Tap ‘Software Update’.
  5. If an update is available, tap ‘Download and Install’.

If prompted, enter your passcode. Depending on your settings, your device may install updates automatically, but it’s always good to manually check to ensure you’re running the latest and most secure version.
