Hi Guys,
I hope you are well and that you are having a great moment wherever you are the in the world 🙂
Microsoft released a crucial update for March 2023, addressing 80 security flaws, including two currently exploited by cybercriminals. Updating all Microsoft products now is essential to keep your devices and data secure. If you do not patch the vulnerabilities under active attack, your devices and personal information could be at serious risk. Here’s what could happen if these vulnerabilities are left unpatched:
- Microsoft Outlook privilege escalation flaw: Cybercriminals could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted email to your Outlook account. The attack can be activated automatically when the email is processed by your Outlook client, without requiring any user interaction or even opening the email. This can lead to unauthorized access to your email account, potentially compromising sensitive personal and financial information.
- Windows SmartScreen security feature bypass: This flaw allows cybercriminals to evade security measures when opening untrusted files downloaded from the internet. If exploited, attackers could distribute malware, such as ransomware, to your device without raising any security warnings. This could lead to your files being encrypted and held for ransom, or your data being stolen and sold on the dark web.
To update Microsoft products and protect yourself, follow these steps:
- Click on the Start button and open Settings.
- Select “Update & Security.”
- Click “Windows Update.”
- Click “Check for updates” to see if any updates are available.
- If updates are available, click “Install now” to begin the update process.
