This is a very urgent announcement that affects Windows and Mac users if they are using the Opera web browser. Cybersecurity researchers have just disclosed a security flaw in the Opera web browser that hackers could exploit to execute any file on the underlying operating system.
If you use the Opera web browser, your device or system is open to attack. If a remote attacker can execute any file on your device, it means they can wholly own your device and all of its information.
You can read more about the vulnerability discovered by clicking on this link; however, to protect yourself, ensure you are running the latest version of the Opera web browser immediately. This is extremely urgent. Please pass this message on to anyone you know who might be using this browser. Here are the instructions for updating:
For Mac:
- Open Opera Browser:

- Click on the Opera icon in your Applications folder or Dock to launch the browser.
- Access the Menu:

- Click on “Opera” in the top menu bar, located at the top-left corner of your screen.
- Check for Updates:

- In the drop-down menu, select “Update & Recovery…”.
- Opera will automatically check for any available updates.
- Install Updates:

- If an update is available, click on “Update” to start the download and installation process.
- Wait for the update to download and install automatically.
- Restart Opera:

- Once the update is installed, you may be prompted to restart the browser. Click “Restart Opera” to complete the update process.
For Windows:
- Open Opera Browser:

- Click on the Opera icon on your desktop or search for Opera in the Start menu and open it.
- Access the Menu:

- Click on the Opera logo (‘O’ icon) at the top-left corner of the browser window to open the main menu.
- Go to Update & Recovery:

- In the menu, select “Update & Recovery…”.
- Opera will check for updates automatically.
- Download and Install Updates:

- If an update is found, Opera will start downloading it.
- Wait for the download to complete, and the update will install itself.
- Restart the Browser:

- After the update is installed, you might need to restart Opera. If prompted, click “Relaunch Now” to restart Opera and apply the update.
