Hi Guys,

Google has made some serious changes to the Google Chrome ‘Safe Browsing mode’, which safeguards you against several virtual threats by showing users warnings when they attempt to navigate to dangerous sites or download harmful files. If you are a user of Chrome, I suggest you turn this on now. Here is everything you need to know.

How to change your Safe Browsing settings on Android:

  • On your Android device, open Chrome Chrome.
  • At the top right, select More
  • Select Settings
  • Select Privacy and Security
  • Select Safe Browsing.
  • Select the level of Safe Browsing you want to use.

How to change your Safe Browsing settings on iOS:

  • On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app.
  • To the right of the address bar, tap More More
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Google Services.
  • Turn on “Safe Browsing.”

The types of protection available (Android only):

Enhanced protection

  • Gives you warnings about potentially risky sites, downloads, and extensions.
  • Sends additional info to Google about your activity.
  • If Safe Browsing can’t confirm that a download is safe, Chrome warns you that the file may be dangerous. You have the option to send this file to Google to be scanned.

Standard protection

  • Gives you warnings about potentially risky sites, downloads, and extensions.
  • You can choose to get warnings about password breaches.
  • You can choose to improve security on the web for everyone by sending additional info to Google.

No protection

  • Safe Browsing is turned off.

I suggest that you choose the enhanced protection mode.

Please let me know if you need any help with this or anything else.

I hope you are having a great day.
