If you are one of the billions of people worldwide who use Whatsapp, here is an additional privacy measure you can start using for iPhone and Android. By using this feature, Whatsapp will ask you to verify yourself by using your fingerprint or FaceID (on iPhone) before you will be allowed to access the app. This means that if someone has access to your phone, they will not be able to use the app as they will not be able to verify using your fingerprints or your face. When this feature is turned on, you will still be able to reply to messages from notifications and answer calls. Follow these instructions, and you are good to go:

  • Select Settings
  • Select Account
  • Select Privacy
  • Select Fingerprint lock
  • Select Unlock with fingerprint scanner

  • Select Settings
  • Select Account
