Hey Guys,
There have been a lot of stories going around over the past few weeks about how Instagram can now access and share your exact location with other users and advertisers. While this is true, it is not a new feature and has been around for a long time. The feature is called precise location, an operating system feature that allows all apps on your phone to track and share your exact location for quite a while.
You don’t need to have this feature turned on unless you use Apple or Google maps. Follow these instructions if you want to disable precise tracking for Instagram and other apps on your phone.
iPhone Users:
- Go to Settings
- Go to Instagram (or any other app you want to restrict)
- Go to Location
- Turn off precise location.
Android Users:
- Go to settings
- Go to Apps and notifications
- Select Instagram (or any other app you want to restrict)
- Select Permissions
- Select Location
- Slide to off
Let me know if you need help with this or anything else.
All the best,
Max Roberts,
