Hi Guys,

I wanted to share an important lesson from a recent cyberattack targeting Transport for London (TfL). The organization, which manages the public transport network across London, confirmed a serious cybersecurity incident. Fortunately, no customer data has been compromised so far, but this attack highlights how even major public services are vulnerable.

I’ve seen it firsthand: while in a French train station recently, I noticed a pop-up on a screen from Internet Explorer—software that hasn’t been supported in years. The fact that such critical systems are running outdated software with no security patches means they’re at constant risk of cyberattacks.

This should be a wake-up call. If critical infrastructure is susceptible, so are you! Whether you’re an individual or a business, staying on guard is crucial. Remember, attacks often target outdated systems or take advantage of user complacency.

Here are some tips to help protect yourself from a cyberattack:

  • Keep your operating system and software up to date.
  • Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
  • Beware of phishing emails that may try to install malware on your device.
  • Regularly back up important files and data.
  • Continue scanning your devices with Incognito to catch any spyware or malware early.

If you ever need help or have concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us for support. Stay alert, stay safe, and protect your systems!

All the best,
Stephen McCormack
