ALERT: Sextortion Scammers Use New Tactics to Bypass Filters

January 2, 2020

Hey Guys,

Please be aware that sextortion scammers are now using new tactics to bypass spam filters so that their scam emails are delivered to their intended targets.

I am sure you know this from previous tips but Sextortion scams are emails that pretend to be from a person who claims to have hacked your computer and installed malware that can record you on your webcam while you surf the Internet.  The hacker also claims to have created a video of you watching adult web sites and they threaten to send the video to all of your contacts unless you pay an extortion demand. These scams have become so common that spam filters have thankfully stopped 99% of them from being delivered to their recipients.

The problem now is that hackers are using a new evasion technique that can bypass the spam filters allowing the scam to make it into your inbox. Scams are now being sent in a foreign language and you have to use Google Translate to read the message.

If you receive any emails like this in a foreign language, please delete the message straight away.

Thank you and please let me know if you need anything at all.
