Have you stopped at any Wawa store and used your credit card to buy fuel or food in the last nine months? If yes it is possible that your credit card details may have been stolen by cyber criminals.
According to a Wawa press release published on the company's website attackers managed to install malware on its point-of-sale servers used to process customers' payments. By the time the malware was discovered by the Wawa security team the malware had already infected in-store payment processing systems at "potentially all Wawa locations."
What can you do?
1. If you bought anything from any of the Wawa convenience stores since March this year we advise you to monitor your payment card statements carefully.
2. In case you find any unauthorized charges, immediately notify your payment card issuer of it
3. If possible, you should consider blocking the affected payment card and requesting a new one from your bank.
Thank you and please let me know if you need anything at all.
