USA ALERT: 750,000 U.S. Birth Certificate Applications Exposed Online

December 10, 2019

Hey Guys,

Have you applied for a copy of your birth certificate through a private company in the past 3 years? If so your personal data could be currently available online for anyone to see.

According to TechCrunch, more than 750,000 U.S. birth certificate applications have been found exposed online in an unsecured database. The exposed information which is being held by a company that helps people obtain a copy of their birth certificate had no password and was extremely easy to find.

The exposed data includes the following:

  • Applicants name

  • Date of Birth

  • Home address (including past addresses)

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Names of family members

  • Reason for the application

The company is yet to respond to inquiries about the security blunder, and with the data still exposed online, TechCrunch has opted not to name the company in order to protect affected customers.

If you have used a private company to obtain a copy of your birth certificate in the past three years please contact us and we can advise you directly.

Thank you and please let me know if you need anything at all.

All the best,

Max Roberts
