Hey everyone,
I hope you are well today.
Just as a little reminder, if you’re reading this outside of the Incognito application, why don’t you go and install the application and take a look at the amazing security features that are available to you? At the moment we only run on Android, but, as you know, we are targeting an iOS release in the coming weeks.
Right, here are a few of the latest security issues, updates and news stories that you should be aware of today.
Ticket Master Hack
Here is an article on Business Insider that talks about how hackers are stealing tickets from Ticketmaster customer’s accounts. This particular incident is something that the ticket master can fix themselves, and they have done it already as far as I know. But, it serves as a reminder to you to make sure that you have a strong password in place on your ticket master account for example.
Instagram Scrape
Someone has scraped the account information for nearly half a billion Instagram accounts and put the information for sale on the dark web. I have seen the dark web listing myself, and to a cybercriminal, this is gold. Only share, what you have to share. Do you need it? – It’s only a matter of time. Here is what is for sale for the 500 million accounts:
* Username
* Full name
* Email address
* First name
* Biography
* External URL
* Account category (e.g., business, influencer)
* Targeted username for the scrape
* Follower and following counts
* Location information
* Account creation date
* User ID and scrape ID
Also, please remember that the information that’s on sale was not hacked information. It was available publicly.
Update Adobe
And yesterday, was patch Tuesday, and Adobe has issued several updates to address critical flaws in some of their products. You can read the article here, but if you are an Adobe user, make sure you are running the latest version of all of your products.
Scam Watch
Here is an article from tripwire.com, explaining how scammers are targeting vulnerable UK citizens about winter fuel payments. You can read the article here, and it will apply to nearly everybody in the world, even though it’s written about UK citizens. Question every text message you get and if you have any doubts, you can ask us
=) Cybercriminal, why are you targeting vulnerable people who cannot pay their heating bills? Maybe they cannot buy food at the end of the week after you ripped them off. Is that worth it? Why don’t you put your skills to good use?

Here is a great article giving you suggestions on how to spot an email scam
Guide to Protecting Yourself From Government Surveillance
The good people at wired.com have written a great article about how to protect yourself from government surveillance. You can read it here.
IOS 18 security feature
A few weeks ago, we were advising you to power your phone off regularly.
“It’s very important for you to power off your phone every 24 hours if possible. A lot of the hacking tools install themselves into temporary memory on your phone and they operate from here. Once you power your phone off you clear out the temporary memory on your phone, thereby removing whatever hacking tool has been placed there and when you power back on your memory is reset”
Apple agrees :-), and has now started releasing a new security feature in iOS 18 that automatically reboots an iPhone if it hasn’t been unlocked in a few days. The police are not happy.
Update Google
Who is an article reminding you, to update your version of Android? Cybercriminals are currently exploiting vulnerabilities in the Android operating system. If you are successfully targeted, you can be destroyed financially. Make sure you are running the latest operating system at all times, and enable automatic updates.
That’s it, have a great day 🙂
I wish you all the best,
Max Roberts.
