Hi Everyone 🙂

Looking to clear space on your Android or iOS device? This guide will walk you through the steps to get more storage, so you can make room for those photos, videos, apps, and files you want to keep.

Free Up Space on Your Android Device

1. Clear Cache Files:

Often, your apps store temporary files known as cache files. These can take up a significant amount of storage space. Here’s how to clear them:

  • Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Storage’ > ‘Cached data’, and then hit ‘OK’ to clear all cached data.

2. Delete Unnecessary Apps:

Over time, you may have downloaded apps that you no longer use. These can consume valuable storage space.

  • Navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Apps & notifications’ > ‘See all apps’. From here, select the app you want to uninstall, then tap ‘Uninstall’.

3. Manage Downloads and Files:

Your ‘Downloads’ folder could contain many files that you no longer need.

  • Open the ‘Files’ app, select ‘Downloads’ or ‘Files’, then delete any unnecessary items.

4. Utilize Google Photos:

Backup your photos and videos on Google Photos, then remove them from your device.

  • Open the Google Photos app > tap on the ‘Profile’ icon > ‘Settings’ > ‘Back up & Sync’ > turn it on.

Once your photos are backed up, you can safely delete them from your device to free up space.

Free Up Space on Your iOS Device

1. Offload Unused Apps:

iOS has a feature that automatically offloads apps that you don’t use, saving you space.

  • Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘General’ > ‘iPhone Storage’. Under the ‘Offload Unused Apps’ section, tap ‘Enable’.

2. Delete Large Attachments in iMessage:

Images and videos sent through iMessage can take up considerable space.

  • Open ‘Settings’ > ‘General’ > ‘iPhone Storage’ > ‘Review Large Attachments’. Here you can review and delete unnecessary attachments.

3. Manage Your Photos:

You can store your photos and videos in iCloud and optimise iPhone storage.

  • Go to ‘Settings’ > tap your name > ‘iCloud’ > ‘Photos’, then turn on ‘Optimise Storage’.

4. Clear Browser Cache:

Clearing cache from Safari can free up some space.

  • Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Safari’ > ‘Clear History and Website Data’, then tap ‘Clear History and Data’.

5. Delete Unwanted Music, Movies and Podcasts:

These can take up significant space, especially if downloaded for offline use.

  • Go to the relevant app, find the file you want to delete, swipe left, and tap ‘Delete’.
