Hi Guys,
I hope you are well. Here is a guide to help you stay safe from the Mispadu banking trojan, which has already affected thousands worldwide. This malware is coming after your bank account, so ensure you are protected.
What is it?
The Mispadu banking trojan has been targeting countries such as Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Portugal to steal banking login credentials and deliver other malicious malware. This trojan has already affected more than 90,000 banking customers around the world, stealing credentials from over 17,500 unique websites.
How is it spread?
We have seen that these are the most common ways that Mispadu is spread.
- Compromising legitimate websites: Mispadu targets vulnerable versions of WordPress to turn them into command-and-control servers for spreading malware.
- Spam emails: The trojan sends spam emails with fake overdue invoices, urging recipients to open the attachments, which initiates a multi-stage infection process.
- Gathering antivirus information: Mispadu can detect the list of antivirus solutions installed on the compromised host, enabling it to evade detection more effectively.
- Collecting credentials: The malware steals login credentials from Google Chrome and Microsoft Outlook, increasing the risk of identity theft and unauthorized access to personal and financial information.
