Hi Guys,
Do you have an Alexa or Google Home Smart Speaker?
A team of researchers at Security Research Labs have found a new way to exploit weaknesses in both Alexa and Google Home smart speakers to spy on users. Once exploited they were able to silently listen to everything that was said around the speaker allowing them to carry out voice-phishing attacks etc.
How is this possible? The vulnerability that allows the exploit is found in the apps created by developers for these devices to extend their capability called Skills for Alexa and second app called Actions on Google Home.
How do you protect yourself?
* Do not use any third party voice apps with Alex or Google Home unless you are 100% sure that they are legitimate and trustworthy. If in doubt please do not use them.
Please let me know if you need anything at all.
All the best,
