If you use Zoom video conferencing on Mac, please stop what you are doing and ensure you are running the latest version. Your system is currently vulnerable to being completely taken over by remote attackers. The massive vulnerability was discovered by Patrick Wardle, a security researcher and founder of the Objective-See Foundation, a nonprofit that creates open-source macOS security tools.
Patrick presented his findings at the Def Con hacking conference last week, and in fairness to Zoom, they had it fixed within a couple of hours. Nice one, Zoom 🙂 To protect yourself, please make sure you are running version 5.11.5.
Please follow these instructions to update Zoom to the latest version:
- Sign in to Zoom desktop client.
- Click your profile picture.
- Click Check for Updates.
- Restart your Mac to be on the safe side 🙂
Let me know if you need help with this or anything else.
All the best,
