Hi Guys,

Here are 5 things you can do right now to better secure your Android device.

  1. Use a PIN

A basic privacy step is to lock your phone with a personal identification number. Locking your phone prevents anyone from being able to get into it and keeps your data private in the event that your phone is stolen or if you lose it.

  1. Encrypt your device

Encrypting the contents of your phone is really easy to do and it adds a huge amount of protection in the event that your phone gets into the wrong hands. It can also save you from remote hacking as well so it is really worth doing. Encrypting your phone can be done from the “security” menu in Android.

  1. Keep your software up-to-date

Most people do not keep their software up to date and leave themselves open to vulnerabilities that can be exploited by hackers. Most software vendors issue security patches on a regular basis and if you do not install them you are putting yourself at risk. Make sure that all apps on your phone are fully up to date and also make sure that you are running the latest version of Android. You can update your software at any time by going to Settings > About Phone > System Update.

  1. Hide notifications

We recommend that you turn off notifications on the lock screen. When you do this anyone who picks up your phone won’t be able to see your messages etc on the lock screen. Turning these off is easy. Just go to Settings > Sound & Notifications.

  1. Don’t share your location with apps

Many apps request that you share your location with them. For some apps this is really useful but do you want them tracking you at all time? To turn off location permissions for your apps, go to Settings > Apps > ⚙ icon > App permissions > Location.

I hope these tips have been useful to you and as always if you need anything please let me know.

Thanks
